You can connect your StarTrack account to ReadyToShip to create consignments and generate shipping labels directly from the platform.

The connection uses the Australia Post Shipping and Tracking API.

Setup usually takes 10–15 minutes, but API access from Australia Post may take up to one business day to activate.

Quick setup overview

  1. Create an Australia Post Developer Centre account

  2. Request Shipping and Tracking API access

  3. Receive your API credentials

  4. Add StarTrack as a carrier in ReadyToShip

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A StarTrack business account

  • Your StarTrack account number

  • Access to the email used for your Australia Post account

If you don’t yet have a StarTrack account, contact Australia Post / StarTrack to set one up. Create an online Sales Enquiry for StarTrack here.

Step 1: Create an Australia Post Developer Centre account

ReadyToShip connects to StarTrack using the Australia Post Developer Centre.

  1. Register for a new account.

  2. Activate your account using the email verification link.

  3. Log in once your account is activated.

Important:
Use the same email address linked to your StarTrack account if possible. This helps avoid approval delays.

Step 2: Request Shipping and Tracking API access

After logging into the Developer Centre:

  1. Go to APIs

  2. Find Shipping and Tracking

  3. Click Register for a key

  4. Select Complete Registration if prompted

Enter:

  • StarTrack account number

  • Email address

When asked:

Are you using a platform partner?

Select:

Yes → ReadyToShip

This step is important because it links your account to the ReadyToShip integration.

Step 3 — Wait for API approval

Australia Post will review your request and link your StarTrack account to your Developer account.

This usually takes about one business day.

You will receive an email containing a PDF with your API credentials, including:

  • API Key

  • API Secret (password)

  • Account number

You’ll need these details when connecting StarTrack inside ReadyToShip.

Step 4 — Add StarTrack in ReadyToShip

Once you receive your API credentials:

  1. Log in to ReadyToShip

  2. Go to Settings → Carriers

  3. Click Add Carrier

  4. Select StarTrack

Enter the following details:

  • API Key

  • API Secret / Password

  • Account Number

Click Test Connection.

If the connection is successful, StarTrack will be ready to use.

Troubleshooting

Connection test failed

Check the following:

• API Key copied exactly
• API Secret copied exactly
• No spaces before or after the credentials
• Correct StarTrack account number

Copy-and-paste is recommended to avoid errors.

“Authentication failed” error

This usually means:

  • API credentials are incorrect

  • API access has not yet been approved by Australia Post

If you requested access recently, wait up to one business day.

No API credentials received

Check your email spam folder for the message from Australia Post.

If you haven’t received anything after one business day, contact:

They can confirm whether your API access has been approved.

Shipping rate information

StarTrack rates returned in ReadyToShip usually include:

  • Fuel surcharge

  • Security surcharge

  • GST

Some additional charges may not appear in API quotes, including:

These may still be applied by the carrier depending on the shipment.

Support tip:
If you continue experiencing issues connecting your StarTrack account, contact the ReadyToShip support team and include:
