You can use the Add Reminder action to automatically add a reminder to orders that need extra attention before they're shipped.
For example, you may want orders over $500 to have a reminder asking your warehouse team to double-check the order before shipping.
⚠️ Important: Once an Automation Rule has run against an order, the changes cannot be undone through Automation.
We recommend creating new Automatic rules as Inactive, then using Dry run to check which orders will match before making the rule Active.
Create the rule
Go to Settings > Automation and click New Rule.
Enter a Title that makes it easy to identify what the rule does.
For example: Orders over $500 – Add reminder
For Type, select:
Automatic to apply the rule automatically when orders are imported.
Manual to apply the rule only when you choose to run it.
For a new Automatic rule, leave Active turned off while you set up and test the rule.
Set the Trigger
Click Add Condition Group.
For this example, we want to identify orders with a value greater than $500.
Select the relevant Order Value Trigger and set the condition to:
Greater than 500
When an imported order has a value over $500, it will match the rule.
Add the reminder
Click Add Action and select:
Add Reminder
Enter the reminder you want added to matching orders.
For example:
Double-check this high-value order before shipping
When the rule matches, this reminder will be added to the order so your team can see that it requires additional attention.
Save and test the rule
Click Save, then use Dry run to check which orders match.
Check that the rule is identifying the correct high-value orders before making it Active.
If the correct orders are returned, set the rule to Active.
ReadyToShip will now automatically add the reminder when an imported order has a value over $500.
Other ways to use this rule
You can use Add Reminder with other Triggers whenever your team needs to be alerted to something about an order.
For example:
Remind staff to check special handling requirements for a particular SKU or product.
Add a reminder for orders being sent to a particular country or location.
Remind staff about a special process when a particular shipping method was selected at checkout.
Check the priority of your rule
If you have multiple Automatic rules, consider where the reminder rule should sit in your Automation list.
Make sure it runs before any rule that may stop further rules from running if you need the reminder added to those orders.
See Set the priority of Automation Rules for more information about rule order and Stop after this rule.
