AusPost eParcel Contract: CN22 vs CN23 Labels for International Shipping

What is the difference, and do I need to select the type when creating my labels?

Written by Meegan

When creating international shipments with your AusPost eParcel Contract, you may see either a CN22 or CN23 label.

Do I need to choose the label type?

No — you don’t need to select this yourself.

Australia Post will automatically generate the correct label based on your shipment details when you create your label in ReadyToShip.

However, to be able to auto-detect whether your shipment is eligible for a CN22 label you MUST have your eParcel carrier settings configured correctly.

Go to Settings Stores and ensure these settings are set as shown below:

CN22 label

A CN22 is an A6 customs declaration label used for smaller, lower-value shipments.

Your shipment must:

  • Weigh under 2kg (or under 5kg for the US)

  • Have a total value under A$500

  • Have combined dimensions under 90cm (L + W + D)

  • Have no single side longer than 60cm

Supported services:

If your shipment doesn’t meet these requirements, a CN23 label will be used instead.

CN23 label

A CN23 label is used for larger or higher-value shipments.

Your shipment will use CN23 if it:

  • Weighs 2kg – 20kg (5kg – 20kg for the US)

  • Has a maximum length of 105cm

  • Does not exceed 140cm girth
    (Girth = (width + height) × 2)

Label printing options

Label formats are set in your Carrier Connection → Printer Settings.

You can only select one label format at a time.

If you’re using a thermal printer, select:

  • A6 (1 per page)

CN22 formats

  • A4 page: 4 × A6 labels per page

  • Thermal: 1 × A6 label

CN23 formats

  • A4 page: 1 × A5 label

  • A4 page: 4 × A6 labels per page (ideal for label sheets)

  • Thermal: 1 × A6 label
