US Customs Changes from 22 October 2026

New US customs clearance requirements are coming. Find out what's changing and how to prepare.

Written by Meegan

From 22 October 2026, the United States will introduce new customs clearance requirements for certain imported goods, including products regulated by US government agencies and those subject to additional tariffs and duties.

According to Zonos, approximately 40–50% of global shipments may be affected by these changes.

Merchants sending parcels to the US through Australia Post may need to provide additional product details or supporting documentation to meet the new requirements.

Missing information could result in shipments being delayed at US customs or returned to sender.

Preparing your products for US customs

Australia Post and Zonos are working together to support the new requirements.

Zonos has introduced free catalogue management tools within existing Verified Accounts to help merchants identify affected products and provide the necessary information.

To prepare:

  1. Sign in to your Zonos Dashboard and open the Catalog section.

  2. Upload your product catalogue using a CSV file, ensuring the product details match those imported into ReadyToShip from your connected stores.

  3. Use Zonos to identify products requiring additional information and complete any missing details.

  4. Add supporting documents, such as compliance certificates or manufacturer information, where requested.

Zonos can then reuse the saved product information for future US shipments, provided the products are correctly matched.

We recommend completing this process before 22 October 2026 to reduce the risk of customs delays.

What does this mean for ReadyToShip?

Your existing ReadyToShip shipping process remains unchanged.

You can continue preparing shipments and creating Australia Post labels as normal.

Any additional customs information required under the new US regulations should be managed directly through your Zonos Verified Account.
