Where do I add HS Tarrif Codes in ReadyToShip?

Written by Meegan
Updated this week

ReadyToShip will automatically import HS Tariff Codes if they are already saved against your products in your store.

If your store doesn’t support this feature - or you prefer not to manage them there - you can add HS Tariff Codes directly within ReadyToShip.

Why HS Tariff Codes matter

It’s best practice to include both HS Tariff Codes and Country of Origin for all products, even if you believe they’re not required for your destination country.

Most countries now require these details for customs clearance, and shipments may be delayed or rejected if they’re missing.

How to add HS Tariff Codes to an order

  1. Open your international order.

  2. Click the “world” icon next to the SKU to edit item details.

  3. A pop-up window will appear where you can enter the required information.

Fields explained

Country of Origin
Enter the country where the goods were manufactured — not the country they are being shipped from

Goods Description
By default, ReadyToShip uses your product title. You can edit this if needed, but it must be clear and specific.

  • ❌ “Shoes”

  • ✅ “Women’s Running Shoes”

HS Tariff Code

  • Enter numbers only (no decimals)

  • Typically 6 to 12 digits

Override Price
Only use this if an item in the order is listed as $0.
You must still declare the true value of the goods for customs purposes, even if the customer didn’t pay for them.

Click Save once all details are entered.

What happens next?

ReadyToShip will store this information and automatically apply it the next time the same item is imported.

Important notes

  • HS Tariff Codes can change, so it’s important to keep them up to date.

  • Missing or incorrect HS Tariff Codes or Country of Origin details may cause customs delays or shipment rejection.

  • Always double-check your information before shipping.
