As your e-commerce store grows, managing different types of orders through one shipping tab can slow you down. ReadyToShip allows you to create multiple shipping tabs by adding the same carrier connection more than once. This helps you separate orders in a way that fits your workflow, whether you’re splitting by domestic and international, printer type, carrier settings, or even by staff members.

Using multiple tabs makes it easier to print the right labels, organise your pick and pack process, and prevent bottlenecks as your daily order volume increases.

Here is a video of how to set up your ReadyToShip account with multiple carrier tabs.

Why use multiple shipping tabs

Shipping tabs let you group orders based on rules that match your workflow. This becomes especially useful when your order numbers increase or when different shipping tasks require different tools or printers.

Common reasons to separate orders include:

  • Using a thermal printer for domestic labels and an A4 printer for international documents.

  • Applying different carrier settings for certain services.

  • Avoiding mistakes when processing large batches of mixed orders.

  • Helping multiple staff members work without overlapping tasks.

How to create additional carrier connections

You can add the same carrier more than once using the same merchant token or API key. Each additional connection becomes a separate tab. This allows you to visually separate your shipments and apply unique settings to each connection.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Carrier > Add Carrier

  2. Add your carrier again using the same credentials.

  3. Give each connection a clear, descriptive name (e.g., “ MyPost Domestic”, “MyPost International”).

  4. Update your carrier mapping

Managing orders in separate tabs

Once mapping is set up, your orders will automatically appear under the correct tab on the Dashboard

From there, you can:

  • Process orders tab by tab

  • Generate labels for each group

  • Create manifests separately

  • Adjust carrier assignments before shipping

For example, selecting all domestic orders and clicking Ship selected orders will only move those orders into the Domestic tab for processing.

Other ways to organise orders

You’re not limited to domestic vs international splits. Many businesses use multiple carrier connections to tailor operations even further.
