If you sell bundle products in WooCommerce, you can choose whether ReadyToShip uses the dimensions and weight from the bundle parent product or the individual child products when calculating package sizes.
How it works
ReadyToShip uses product dimensions and weights to determine which package should be assigned to an order.
For bundle products, you can choose which product data takes priority:
Children first (default)
Parent first
⚠️ Note: This setting only affects bundle products. Any other products in the order that are not part of a bundle will always be included in package calculations using their assigned dimensions and weight.
Children First (Default)
By default, Bundle products dimensions and weight source is set to Children first.
When this setting is enabled, ReadyToShip will:
Use the dimensions and weight of all child products within the bundle.
Ignore any dimensions and weight assigned to the parent bundle product.
Calculate package sizes based on the combined dimensions and weight of the child products.
Missing dimensions or weights
If one or more child products in a bundle are missing dimensions or weight:
Those child products cannot be included in the package calculation.
The entire bundle will instead fall back to using the dimensions and weight assigned to the parent product.
⚠️ Note: We strongly recommend adding dimensions and weight to all products in your store, including both parent and child products, to ensure accurate package calculations.
Parent First
If you want ReadyToShip to use the dimensions and weight of the bundle parent product instead, you can change the setting to Parent first.
To change the setting
Go to Settings > Stores.
Select your WooCommerce store.
Change Bundle products dimensions and weight source to Parent first.
Click Save.
When Parent first is selected, ReadyToShip will:
Use the dimensions and weight assigned to the parent bundle product.
Ignore the dimensions and weight of the child products.
Missing dimensions or weights
If the parent bundle product is missing dimensions or weight:
The parent product will be ignored.
ReadyToShip will use the dimensions and weight of the individual child products instead.
Best Practice
For the most accurate package calculations, we recommend maintaining dimensions and weight for:
All parent bundle products
All child products
This ensures ReadyToShip can correctly calculate package sizes regardless of which bundle source setting is being used.
