ReadyToShip uses product data from your store, along with locally saved values, to calculate order weights and support packaging automation.
How It Works
Item weights and dimensions are sourced from your store or entered in ReadyToShip
These values are used to calculate the total order weight
Dimensions help determine the most suitable package

Item Weights
Where weights come from
Weights can be sourced from:
Your store
If product weights are set, ReadyToShip will import themCached values in ReadyToShip
If you enter or edit a weight, we remember it for future ordersDefault item weight (optional store setting)
Apply a standard weight if all products are similar
Editing item weights
To update a weight:
Click the pencil icon next to the weight field
Enter the correct value
The updated value will be saved and reused for future orders.
Overriding order weight
To manually control the total order weight:
Open the order details
Either:
Edit individual item weights (recalculates total), or
Enter a value in Total Weight (Kg) to override
Force a default item weight
If required, you can apply a fixed weight to all items:
Go to Settings > Stores
Click the blue cog icon on your store
Select Settings
Enter a value in Force item weight to X (grams)
Item Dimensions
Where dimensions come from
Dimensions can be sourced from:
Your store (length, width, height fields or metafields)
Default dimensions (if all products are similar)
Overriding dimensions
To adjust dimensions:
Open the order details
Edit:
Individual item dimensions, or
Total Order Dimensions (cm)
Default order dimensions
To apply the same dimensions to all orders:
Go to Settings > Stores
Click the blue cog icon
Select Settings
Enter values under Default order dimensions
Choosing Which Values to Use
You can control whether ReadyToShip uses:
Imported values from your store, or
Locally saved (cached) values
To configure this:
Go to Settings > Stores
Use Prioritize cache for values
