These are instructions for setting the default Printer Preferences for a DYMO 4XL in Mac OSX to print 4x6" (or other) thermal labels from ReadyToShip.

This will print correct labels for carriers like eParcel, Couriers Please, Fastway, Sendle, DHL and more.

IMPORTANT

The Dymo Labelwriter software must be installed first, as the installation of this software will add many default label sizes to your Mac OS system. Without this, you may not be able to set a 4x6" label size correctly.

Ensure your printer is installed and set up correctly

Open System settings and ensure the DYMO printer appears in the installed printers list. If not, follow the DYMO installation instructions you received with the printer.

See if CUPS is running (required to set default paper size)

Open your internet browser and type (or paste) the following link into your browser's internet address bar:

http://localhost:631/printers

If CUPS is not enabled, you will see the following message:

To enable CUPS, open the Terminal application. This is found by opening Finder, clicking on Applications in the left menu, then Utilities.

After it has loaded, type in:
cupsctl WebInterface=yes

Then press Return on your keyboard

To confirm the WebInterface is enabled, type
cupsctl, then press Return on your keyboard, and you can see the current setting.

Go to WebInterface in your Browser

Open your internet browser and type (or paste) the following link into your browser's internet address bar:

http://localhost:631/printers

Then click on the Dymo Printer in the list, as shown:

After clicking on the Printer name, you will be shown a summary screen. In the dropdown shown, choose "Set Default Options"

Then in the next screen, choose the correct paper size that is loaded into the Dymo. For a 4XL printing Large Shipping labels, this might be a size like 4x6 inches. Or it could be known as something else. You may have to test a few options.

Then click "Set Default Options"

If an Authentication Required message appears, you'll need to enter your computer's username and password (this is the username and password you use to log in to your Mac)

You can now test printing again and see if your labels come out at the correct size.
