About our labels

ReadyToShip provides labels in PDF format, that are generated directly by partner Carriers. This means each PDF label is 100% the correct size.

Common issues include:

  • Margins seem wrong

  • Label is printed too small/large

  • Label text isn't sharp

  • Part of the label is missing

If your labels are not printing out the correct size on your paper, you will most often have to adjust some printer settings.

Step 1 - check your configuration in ReadyToShip

To check your printer settings in ReadyToShip, go to Settings > Carriers.

Click the blue gear icon, then select 'Printer Setup' from the drop-down menu.

Depending on the carrier, you can select A4 or A6 labels. We recommend leaving the margins/offsets set to 0 here first.

Step 2 - check your PC/Mac Printer settings

ReadyToShip generates PDF Labels and Manifests that are the correct size.

After you install a printer, your PC or Mac will use the default paper size (often A4 or Letter), so the labels may print incorrectly on the smaller label size (typically A6 or smaller).

You need to ensure that the default paper size and margin settings in your PC/Mac are correct.

For PC-based printers, Printer Preferences are usually found in the System menu. This article explains how to get there in different versions of Windows.

Within these preferences you need to ensure the paper size is set correctly for the printer:

  • for an A4 printer, this will be "A4".

  • for a thermal printer, this will most often be "4x6" or "100x150mm" or similar.

Zebra thermal printer

If you use a Zebra thermal printer, you may also need to check these settings. To set up a thermal printer and its default paper settings, view these instructions.
