PLEASE NOTE: If your carrier does not require parcel dimensions to be submitted when creating consignments any dimensions displayed on your account will be ignored.

The Order Grid

All order grids throughout ReadyToShip will display the weights, dimensions and package type selected for each order as shown below:

Editing Package Details

You can edit package weight and dimensions directly from the order view (as displayed above) from any tab - eg. your Unshipped orders tab, or in a shipping run assigned to a carrier, and by expanding the order.

Editing Weight

  1. Click the pencil icon to open package details

  2. Click or double-click the weight field to edit

  3. Enter the new value

  4. Click:

    • Tick icon to save

    • X to discard changes

Editing Dimensions

  1. Click the pencil icon

  2. Edit any dimension field (length, width, height)

  3. Use the Tab key or your mouse to move between fields

  4. Click:

    • Tick icon to save

    • X to discard changes

Adding Multiple Packages

If supported by your carrier:

  1. Click the + button in the Packages column

  2. Add additional packages

  3. Edit each package individually using the pencil icon

Package Types

There are four package types available in ReadyToShip:

Default Package Size

Used when an order has no weight or dimension data.
Configured in Package Settings.

Predefined Package Size

A standard package size that you define with fixed dimensions and settings.
Configured in Package Settings.

Estimated Package Size

Automatically calculated based on the dimensions of the items in the order.

Custom Package Size

Manually defined by editing package dimensions.

⚠️ Important: Editing dimensions automatically converts the package to Custom.

Changing the Package Type

To select a different package type:

  1. Click the X next to the current package to remove it

  2. Click Select

  3. Choose from the available options:

  • Use Item Dimensions
→ Calculates package size using item dimensions

  • Best Fit
→ Selects the smallest predefined package that fits all items
→ If none fit, falls back to item-based estimation

  • Custom
→ Allows you to manually enter dimensions

Best Practices

  • Ensure product weights and dimensions are accurate for better packaging results

  • Use predefined packages where possible for consistency

  • Review package details before creating consignments
