How to enter or remove Tax IDs for International Orders

How to add IOSS, VAT and other Tax IDs in ReadyToShip

Written by Nathan Huppatz

ReadyToShip lets you configure tax identifiers, such as IOSS, VAT, and GST, for each store.

These tax IDs are automatically included with international shipments when required.

You can also override the tax settings for individual orders before generating a shipping label.

How to enter Tax IDs in ReadyToShip

International Tax IDs such as IOSS, VAT, and GST can be set per store in ReadyToShip, or added to orders individually before generating a label.

To add or edit these, go to Settings → Stores and click on the Globe icon

Then, set your IOSS (or relevant countries Tax ID) per region/country.
Instructions are included on that page.

ReadyToShip will then automatically apply them to your international orders as necessary.

⚠️ Important: If you have more than one store, you will need to repeat this process for each store.

Configure Zonos Managed Tax IDs

For countries supported by Zonos, select Zonos Managed in the Type column instead of entering a Tax ID manually.

When Zonos Managed is selected, Zonos automatically supplies the appropriate tax identifier for supported destinations, so no Tax ID value is required.

⚠️ Important: Sender Pays Zonos is mandatory for shipments to the United States, therefore there is no Tax ID setting required for this country.

Override Tax Settings for an Individual Order

If an individual shipment requires different tax settings, you can override the store's default configuration before printing the shipping label.

  1. Expand the order.

  2. Click Edit More Options.

  3. Either:

    • Enter a different value in the Override Tax ID field, or

    • Change the Submit Tax ID option to control whether a tax ID is submitted for that shipment.

These overrides apply only to the selected order and do not change the store's default settings.

We recommend you familiarise yourself with the pre-arrival customs requirements for all international destinations you ship to.

⚠️ Important: Tax ID overrides are only available for destinations other than the United States. Shipments sent to the United States using Australia Post use Sender Pays (Zonos® Verified Account) by default, so the submitted tax ID cannot be changed.

Before You Ship

International tax and customs requirements vary by destination. We recommend reviewing the latest pre-arrival customs requirements for the countries you ship to before sending international orders.
